Categories in X-Cart stand for collections or groups of products. Products are joined into categories based on a set of similar type or product features that makes it easier for a customer to navigate in your store.
You can create categories both manually using the Catalog -> Categories section of the admin area and automatically using the import feature.
When a category is created, it is shown on your online store as a webpage with a gallery of the products that are in this category and a category banner at the top of the page, that can be managed on the category details page in the admin area. Your customers can then click a product image on the category page to visit a product details page. You can help customers find and view categories by adding them as links to the menu in your store’s navigation.
The exact layout and appearance of category pages depends on the skin you are using.
