Not all text in X-Cart is orgaized in labels, as you may have noticed already. There are also menus, static pages, order statuses and news that are translated a bit differenly. To translate the elements of the kind you’ll need to switch the cart admin to the language of translation, find the element you need to translate and edit it.

PREREQUISITES: Make sure a required language package is installed to proceed with further translations.

Translating Menus

To translate menus:

  1. Open the Content > Menus section of your store admin area.
  2. Switch the language of the admin area to the target language of your translation (it will be German in our sample). Use the language select box in the right upper corner for the purpose.
  3. Click on the menu name you need to change and enter the menu translation.
  4. Save the changes.

The translated menus will look as follows in the store front-end:

Translating Static Pages

To translate static pages:

  1. Go to the Content > Pages section of your store admin area.
  2. Switch the language of the admin area to the target language of your translation (it will be German in our sample). Use the language select box in the right upper corner for the purpose.
  3. Click on the page you want to edit to open the page details.
  4. Translate the page name and content.
  5. Save the changes.

We’ll translate the ‘Terms and conditions’ page in our sample:

For ‘Terms and conditions’ it will also be necessary to translate its value in the footer menu. So go to the Content > Menus > Footer menu section. Find the ‘Info Links’ menu and click on the submenu items. There, click on ‘Terms and conditions’, translate it and save the changes.

Translating News

To translate news:

  1. Go to the Content > News messages section of your store admin area.
  2. Switch the language of the admin area to the target language of your translation (it will be German in our sample). Use the language select box in the right upper corner for the purpose.
  3. Click on the news entry you want to edit to open the mews page.
  4. Translate the message name and content.
  5. Save the changes.

We’ll translate the ‘BIG WINTER SALE’ announcement in our sample:

Translating Order Statuses

To translate order statuses:

  1. Go to the Payment statuses tab of the Orders -> Order statuses section of your store admin area.
  2. Switch the language of the admin area to the target language of your translation (it will be German in our sample). Use the language select box in the right upper corner for the purpose.
  3. Click on the order status you want to translate and enter the order status translation.
  4. Save the changes.
